How to Get What You Truly Want in Life: No Excuses, Just Action

Getting What You Want

I’ll make this short and sweet.

We all hope to get what we want. And to be honest, I’ve always gotten what I wanted.

  1. I always wanted to live in a different country—a free country. I live in the U.S.
  2. I wanted to be the best in the world. I became a world champion.
  3. I wanted a family. I have two beautiful daughters.
  4. I wanted to feel loved. After six years, I’m still in love with my girlfriend.

It’s all about getting what we want.

I can tell you four things that helped me always get what I want:

1. I freaking gave everything I had.

If you’re too tired, too busy, unmotivated, or broke—then you don’t really want it.
It’s that simple.

When you truly want something, you don’t make excuses. You don’t ask if it’s possible. You just go.

  • You don’t choose it—your dream chooses you.
  • You don’t get to negotiate with it.
  • Your goal owns you.

2. There’s no quitting.

You don’t “move on” from a real dream.
Even if you try to ignore it, it’s still there.
In your head.
All the time.

You’ll work on it in every spare moment. Every second, every minute—it’s about that dream.
If you’re thinking of quitting, then you don’t really want it.

3. There’s always fuel in the tank.

When you’re locked into your goal, energy shows up.
Time shows up.
Motivation shows up.

You might get distracted, but you’ll always come back to it.
It’s like a curse you can’t escape—
You live for that goal, breathe for it, bleed for it.
That’s how it works.

4. Make Mistakes.

Believe it or not, I’ve made a lot of mistakes—big ones and small ones.

You can’t grow if you’re afraid to make mistakes.

I’m not talking about being careless; I’m talking about taking risks.
We don’t know it’s a mistake until after the fact.
So try it out. See how it goes.
Trust your gut—it will never steer you the wrong way.

  • I was 7 years old when I dreamed of living in a different country.
  • I was almost 24 when I moved to the United States.
  • Growing up, we never had family dinners. I always wanted that.
  • It took over 30 years, but I have that now too.
  • I was married and divorced three times.
  • I believe I’ve finally found true love.

Dreams don’t have a timeline.
They don’t expire.
They don’t go away.

They become real because you don’t give up.
Because you don’t have a choice.
Because you’ll never stop working for them.

Now let me ask you something:

What do you want?

And what are you willing to do to get it?
